Who can attend?  Any woman who wants to learn how to look after her money. This is a practical, ‘hands on’ forum with excellent presenters and workshops to give you skills you can take home and use immediately. 

Lots of young women across our region could spend a huge amount of money on their school or university ball or graduation ceremony – their ‘one night’ Cinderella experience.  Our YWCA supports local young women to look great in affordable, recycled dresses… but we need your help.

We want your support to collect formal dresses and evening bags on our behalf.  We need your help – we want as many workplace and community collection points as possible, and lots of donations!

‘Women and Equality: From Global Rhetoric to Local Reality’

 In 1988, Gill began a decade-long stint on the Vic staff, first as liaison officer, then director of student services, before becoming assistant vice-chancellor in charge of equity, and was an active member of AVUW and Staff Representative on the VUW Council. Then she became executive director of Family Planning, moving to London in 2006 to become director general of the International Planned Parenthood Federation.

For her work in promoting global sexual health, she was made Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in the British New Year’s Honours List. She’s now returned to Wellington and has a consulting service Time plus Talents.

Youth Declaration is a four day national conference for secondary school students. It gives young leaders the opportunity to voice their opinions and contribute to public policy making in New Zealand. Youth Declaration is aboutarticulating a vision of a better future and demonstrating that young peopleare insightful and engaged individuals. Within the conference program there will be expert speakers, educational workshops, an outreach program, and focus groups lead by trained facilitators. Youth Declaration will be held from the 13thto 16th of April at the University of Auckland.

This is a fantastic opportunity for your youth members. Youth Declaration is another forum where young leaders can come together to discuss civic issues. This is a unique opportunity as it is a national event which enables youth from around the country to network with one another.

Students will also get a chance to further their communication skills by interacting with other young leaders; they will learn to clearly articulate and communicate their opinions. Students will also gain the ability to stand up fortheir ideas and develop leadership skills as they will listen to others’ opinionsand learn to respond to them. It is not necessary for students to have a deep understanding of thevarious areas of public policy. Briefing papers and facilitators will guide students through discussions; all we ask is for participants to have an open mind while being able to express their own opinions on different issues.

UN Youth encourages a diverse attendance from young people from a range of cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds. There are scholarships available for students.
